About our Memberships/ Important Info!

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member at BabyFace Studio! We’re excited to offer a welcoming and inspiring space for experienced ceramic artists to work independently in a supportive community setting.

Membership Eligibility
At BabyFace Studio, we want to make sure all members feel confident and comfortable working independently in our space.

  • If you are new to clay and have not taken classes before, you are required to complete at least two (2) 8-week courses with us before being eligible to apply for membership.

  • If you have previous clay experience (wheel throwing, handbuilding, etc.) from other studios or schools, you are required to complete at least one (1) 8-week course with us. After that, we’ll check in with you to make sure membership is the right fit.

  • If you have a portfolio of work that demonstrates your experience, we ask that you share it with us as part of the process. In this case, the requirement remains a minimum of one (1) 8-week course at BabyFace.

After completing your required course(s), we’ll re-evaluate together to ensure you’re ready to transition into membership.

The final decision is up to the studio owner. If it’s determined that you’re not quite ready to move into a solo membership, you may be asked to take another class to ensure you’re fully comfortable with the studio, equipment, and techniques before working independently.

This allows us to get to know your practice, ensure a good fit for the space, and set you up for success in our community studio. Once you’ve completed the course, we’ll be happy to talk with you about the next steps and whether membership is the right option for you.

Due to limited space, we accept applications and reach out as spots become available. Thank you in advance for your patience!

What We Offer

Our studio spans two floors and is designed for independent work time. We provide:

  • 16 pottery wheels

  • 2 electric kilns

  • A slab roller

  • 10 studio-made bucket dipping glazes with endless layering possibilities

  • A growing selection of tools and communal resources

Members have access to the studio during all Open Studio Hours, which are posted regularly and may vary month to month.

Studio Expectations

  • Members are expected to work independently and follow all studio guidelines.

  • You must provide your own tools and supplies. Clay is to be purchased through our studio only. We will provide with membership: equipment, kiln firings, and glazes.

  • While we’re always here to help when needed, this is not an instructional program. If you’re looking to develop new skills or get in-depth feedback, our courses are the best option.

  • All work and materials must stay within your designated area.

  • No outside clay permitted. Only glaze is permitted with prior studio approval. The glaze must be suited for cone 6, must be pre-approved, and must be manufactured from a ceramic shop supplier (no homemade glazes allowed), and glaze bottles may not be larger than 16oz. Unapproved materials may result in termination of your membership and responsibility for any damage caused to our equipment, especially kilns.

  • Please note: We are not a production pottery studio. If you are a production potter and are looking for space or kiln access, please fill out the form below and specify your needs.
